Happy Christmas Eve Everyone!

How's everyone doing? Do you have snow where you live? We don't have any yet, but it's trying to come down now. My Daddy watches the weather channel on tv and I heard that some places got really socked in with lots and lots of snow. I hope everyone stays warm and that you have a good time for Christmas!

Here's what me and Libby like to do to relax. Notice our Daddy with that silly remote control in his hands. We don't care about watching tv! If you zoom in you can see how well my owie is healing up. After having to go back last Saturday to get restitched cuz I chewed half of them off, I have to keep this silly cone thing on my head ALL the time. I like how it keeps me warm outside, but it's not any real fun to wear and makes it impossible to see around corners!

My temporary lick-proof outfit

Just when I thought I'd gained freedom from that silly fleece and flannel cone on my head, out comes an even sillier outfit put together with a t-shirt, much too large for my svelt body, a necktie (belongs around the NECK, not my belly!) and finally after my arms kept getting stuck in the sleeves, a plastic grocery bag.

I personally think my rear end looks rather sexy in the top picture, so maybe the tie had a good effect after all, but those sleeves just weren't made for me!
My wound is almost healed now, but the metal stitches won't come out until Monday. That means I have to put up with the cone for another three days. Well at least now it's clean and has a nice fresh scent of those dryer sheets. Not such a bad thing except that I still keep bumping in to things. Oh well, on a more positive note, when my humans forget to take it off before I go outside I've got the warmest head of all three of us dogs! How's your winter going? Eat any ornaments yet? None of us do that sort of thing anymore, but the crazy cat downstairs keeps eating the fake tree and throwing it up all over the floor. Sheesh, doesn't he know a fake tree when he sees one?

How to get out of a teeth cleaning!

Hey everyone, wanna know how to get out of a trip to the vet for a teeth cleaning? Well have I got a deal for you! See my appointment was scheduled for next Friday and I just hate getting my teeth cleaned so I thought I'd just show those humans who was boss. I'm keeping the source of my disaster a secret so I can't tell you what happened - tee hee hee! Anyway, take a look at the pictures and you'll see what I did. Now the problem is it kinda backfired on me cuz I had to go to the doc anyway and even had to get put under. That's why I didn't want to get my teeth cleaned cuz I don't like the whoozy feeling afterwards. Warning, not for the faint at heart! Oh and if you laugh at me wearing Tucker's soft cone that my human momma made I'l come hunt you down and make YOU wear it!!!

What are YOU looking at????? So I'm feeling really relaxed now, so what! Oh, the vet said it was not a bite, so I can't blame it on Libby or Charlie like I was going to do. Rats!

Video of us eating the Pupcake - YUMMY!!!!!

Pupcake my two-legged momma won yesterday - YUMMY!!!!

While my momma was selling her stuff at a vendor fair yesterday she won a door prize and guess what it was??? A PUPCAKE from Daisy's Green Paradise, a place that just makes the most marvelous natural dog treats!!! Here's a picture of the one she brought home:
I'll post a video of all three of us eating it after it finishes uploading on YouTube (momma forgot that she has to post this to my blog first, then sign out of my account and in to hers because that's what YouTube told her she had to do....)

Please stay tuned...

I'm running behind and will be back later to tell my story and Libby's too.

Stay tuned for the Story of Me (and Libby and Charlie too!)

I just found out there's a really cool opportunity going on to tell your adoption or other story and win $50 for the animal charity of your choice. Since my original owner's husband is now working for the Humane Society where Libby and I came from wouldn't it be so awesome if I could win? Heck, even if I don't win maybe I'll talk my humans in to donating anyway. He has such sad stories to tell, like the two pups they were fostering this past weekend that had to be put down because they had Parvo. It makes my humans drip water from their eyes when they talk about all that kind of stuff. Anyway, I'll be posting our stories later this week, but you can click on the pictures over to the right and go read all about it. There's also a thing where we make a list of the pressies we're wanting to give our humans and tell why. Gotta think on that for a bit. Be back later!

Card my momma made for Operation Write Home

My momma has been occupying her time lately with her crafts. Yeah she still plays ball with me almost every day, but she keeps getting out her paper stuff and playing with it. I told her I'd show you one of the cards she made for the Operation Write Home Valentine Blog Hop. That's a group of people who make thousands of greeting cards that are sent to soldiers serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. Then the soldiers can write in them and send back to loved ones and friends. Isn't that the coolest thing ever? Well almost as cool as when they adopted me and Libby and rescued Charlie off the street and got Tucker away from that pet store... okay so it's a nice thing anyway. I know some of you would probably rather just eat the paper, but it makes her happy to make these because she was a soldier once and her daddy was in the Army for over 20 years. You can see more of her cards and also watch a slide show of her daddy on her blog Diary of a Craft Room Transformation. I think that doing all this crafting stuff is helping her get over losing Tucker, so I'll be patient with her and eventually she'll let me get back on the puter and start writing about dog living again.

Visiting Angel Tucker on his Birthday

Our two-legged momma and daddy thought we should have a little ceremony at Angel Tucker's grave on his birthday October 26th. Momma took the camera outside and tried to get pictures of all three of us paying our respects. Well as you can see if you zoom in on the last picture, Charlie and I were more concerned about our tennis balls, but we did each with him Happy Birthday in our own way. Oh, the yellow flowers are over our Angel Charmin's grave. If you're new to my blog you won't know this, but she went over the Rainbow Bridge on July 7, 2009.

The first one to visit was Libby. She was more curious about what Momma was doing than anything else.
Then Charlie came by for a visit. He's kinda mad at Tucker for leaving him the only boy in the house.
Then I came by, but I'm so fast that Momma only got me as I was leaving the scene.
Now click on the picture below to see what Charlie and I were REALLY interesting in doing!

Sadness over the loss of my brother Tucker

My famous big (but littler than me) brother Tucker crossed over that Rainbow Bridge this morning and is now running and wagging his tail, probably drinking all the water under the bridge. He's with my big angel sister Charmin and they're having a blast. Why do I feel so sad then? Probably because my humans have wet faces and they're dragging their feet. My humomma is making my hudaddy a special Charlie Brown fleece pillow that he can squeeze when he wants to remember Tucker. He'll be very tired after digging that whole in the ground next to Angel Charmin. I wish Libby and I could help him dig, but they taught us very well and we don't dig... well I don't anyway. Libby digs trying to find the mice under the deck and she gets in trouble. Maybe Daddy will let her help him. Momma is going to create a very special memorial celebration slide show this weekend and will post it on Tucker's blog after her eyes are dry enough to see again. It hurts me to watch her so sad and I follow her around and touch her hand with my nose. She seems to like that.

Libby and I on an outing at Paws at the Park

On Saturday Libby and I got to go play and prance around at Paws at the Park, an annual fundraiser for the shelter where we were both rescued by our humans. It's a really special day for us because we get to see so many other four-leggeds and show off our spunk. Our humans thought that I, Katie, needed to be exercised (really they said, "worn out") before going to the party, so I got to go play in the Dog Park while Libby went on the walk with our daddy. Here's some video of me playing catch with a nice little boy who has a really strong throwing arm, unlike my weak momma who can't throw a ball more than about ten feet.

Here we are with our nice bandannas on riding in the car, so excited to get there.

and me in the Dog Park with that nice boy playing catch

I thought this guy was gonna take my ball, so I ran really fast!
then the boy thought it was time for a drink

but I just wanted the ball!

then we went to the party and met up with daddy and Libby (oh that's my two-legged sister's legs and feet. Doesn't she look great after losing almost 60 pounds?!?! WOOF!!!)

and finally, the two princesses in the carriage with our momma and daddy.

Awesome rescue dog on Britain's Got Talent - even Simon loved it!

A great act!
This dog is a rescued dog and is so talented!

Peanut butter and a nap

Tonight our humomma emptied a big peanut butter jar (plastic of course) and after Charlie got a taste and left it alone Miss Libby snuck over for a lick. She used her paws really well for holding it down, but it kept sliding away anyway and she soon grew tire of it. Then.....

I, Katie, got it!  But you see, I'm a pretty smart cookie and quickly grabbed it by the neck and carried it away to my secret hiding spot on the futon! As RR would say.... YUM-O!!!!

ps. just to prove that Libby and I are friends, here's a picture of us dog-spooning.

Paws in the Park video

You've got to see this funny video taken at the Helping Hands Humane Society where Libby and I came from. They are promoting Paws in the Park which is held as a fund raiser each year. Libby and I get to go!!! It's not until September so we have lots of time to get all prettied up. Ya never know who we might meet when we're there!

Come watch me herding Tucker!

If you click on the title link it will take you to my brother's blog and you'll get to watch a really long video of me learning how to herd him. You see, he's blind from cataracts and he can't hear too well either, so my human momma has been trying to teach me how to herd him. This is my first real effort, only my sis Libby kept getting in the way. Seems that Golden Retrievers don't like barking or seeing dogs pushing other dogs along. Hrmmmph!

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Here we are with our original rescuers, Emily and Matt who have their own crew of rescued dogs and cats, oh and guinea pigs and fish too. They also always seem to have a few stragglers around they call fosters or something like that. Guess you could say they really love us furries! Matt works for animal control, so when he saw Libby come in to the shelter he told our daddy that she just HAD to go home with him. Of course it helps that she reminds him of Angel Charmin

Now talk about CONFUSING!!! Where'd that other Libby come from???

Wonder what she's looking at?

Different day, same cat. Libby's obsessed with JC!

Am I eating my words?

What do you think? The light box was taking pictures of my human brother and sister reading Tucker's new book and it sure looks like I'm eating some words. Oh and check out my whale eyes!

Oh and have you ever seen such a silly cat as my feline brother JC? He's acting really strange!

Here's Libby and I with our feline sis Echo in that big empty dining room. We're getting all new floors in there tomorrow and are standing on the wood that goes under it. It's fun having all this empty space to move around!

MY Futon! (not Libby's, not Tucker's and not Charlie's!)

Don't ya just love lying around on your back airing out your tummy? This is the life of Riley... err Katie and it's MY spot forever! Tucker used to sleep on here, but now he doesn't jump anymore, so I told him I'd keep it warm for him so when he can jump again it'll be ready. Sometimes Libby gets up here, but she prefers the wooden floor. Well today my humans were busy getting ready for something called a garage sale. You should SEE all that stuff out there in the garage! They let me and Libby come out and look around, but I wasn't very impressed cuz there weren't any tennis balls and nothing to eat, so I just laid down until it started thundering. Oh! here's what our back yard looked like after the rain!
Pretty cool, huh? Well at least I thought so, but they wouldn't let me go run around and splash in the water. To be honest, I was hiding in the basement because it was thundering during the rain and I know where it's safe during a storm when all those weather radios keep making noise!

We're best friends now!

Yup, it was bound to happen... Libby and I are best friends now! See we even got caught cuddling today. What can I say? It's nice having a sister around again and she's really no bother. She has her own feeding station and guards it with her life, even barked as Tucker got too close, realizing that he couldn't see where he was going. She wasn't being mean, just letting him know he was going the wrong direction. She keeps trying to get me to play and I'm sort of getting in to it, but gradually, wouldn't want her to think she was ruling me!

I got my first award!

I got my very first ever bog award!!! Thank you so much Sugar The Golden Retriever for bestowing this honor upon me! Now for the details....

Rules for accepting this award...
(1) Thank the blogger who gave you this award.
Once again, Thanks to my new bloggie friend Sugar for this award. (It's uncanny how much Libby looks like you! We've decided that she's part Golden Retriever after seeing your pretty face!)
(2) I have to Share 7 Things About ME.

  1. I love that I was rescued by this animal-loving family.
  2. I love that I have a new sister, Libby.
  3. I love watching the squirrels eat their corn.
  4. I love, love, LOVE running after the tennis ball and bringing it within ten feet of my humans.
  5. I love catching the frisbee, especially when I can fly through the air!
  6. I love sitting on my humomma's lap pretending to be a little dog.
  7. I love reading other dogs' blogs!

Now Rule (3) is to pass this award to 15 bloggies.
I must say that I agree with Sugar, this is the hardest part.

Relaxing at our house

Libby is fitting in really good around here, wouldn't you agree? Notice that SHE is the one on the couch and I am the one on the floor! Used to be MEEEEEE on the couch with my hudaddy. We got in a little tiff the other day while humans were at work, but I'm not telling what we were doing. Hudaddy thinks that we both got on the bed (a no-no for us shedders!) and played kind of king (or queen for us) of the hill (bed). I hurt my leg, probably from falling or jumping off the bed wrong. Most likely our little kitty brother JC was on the bed where he always sleeps during the day and Libby was stalking him as usual. Oh well, I only left a few bite marks on Libby's face and ear... kind of paid her back for what she did to Charlie.

Anyway.... Libby follows hudaddy all around and seems to be very calm and happy. She loves running along the fence with our neighbor's little Schnauzer and she's doing a little barking when she sees people or animals outside the fence. Guess she knows she's home now. I have to admit that it's really kinda nice having a sister again!

This is my first blog hop. Won't you come along too?

I smell a rat!!!

Today I showed my humans what I was good for. Not that they don't love me just because I'm marvelous, soft, sweet, housetrained, etc.; but now they know that I can also earn my keep! They didn't have the camera out until after I found the varmit, but my humomma wondered why I was hanging out by the shed for so long, then she saw Katie join me in what appeared to be a hunt for something. When humomma got out to the shed I was halfway under this wood pile and wouldn't come out. It was a lot taller at the time, this is after they removed a bunch of the timbers. Humomma said it's all going in the burn pile next burn day!

After they removed about half the wood and I just kept getting closer and closer to that varmit it finally went scurrying out and I caught it, shook it really hard and snapped it's neck! Warning: not for the squeemish!

Hudaddy didn't know what to do with it and humomma had to grab me and Katie by the collars and drag us in to the house, then hudaddy put it in a plastic bag and got rid of it. This was no field mouse mind you, it was a gigantic RAT!!!

When I came back out I hunted and hunted and hunted for it, but just couldn't find it.

Ok, this is where I left it, where'd it go?
Hey, did it run away? I know I killed it!
Hmmm, I smell rat blood, yeah, THIS is where I left it!
Oh well, I've done my work for the day!
